- It’s free. One of the best aspects of meditation is the fact that it doesn’t cost a dime. You do not need any kind of special training or any sort of gadget to get started. If you decide to take a course of purchase a book, this is fine, but you don’t need anything to get started.
- Reduces suffering. Meditation teaches one how to be in the moment. The idea is that when we hold our awareness in the present, we suffer less. This benefit of meditation has been proven and is one of the reasons why so many people find it useful practice.
- No side-effects. There are no side-effects to meditation. Instead, people who meditate often experience less stress, pain and anxiety in their lives. Meditation has also been shown to reduce depression.
- Helps with focus. Another benefit to meditation is that it helps with focusing. In a world full of distractions, meditation helps one focus attention.
